Rumi Danang Sufianto
Founder / Managing Partner
Danang is the Founder and Managing Partner of Sufianto & Partners. He focuses on civil and commercial disputes, arbitration, insolvency, and strategic commercial advisory matters. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Indonesia and an LL.M. in International Civil and Commercial Law from Leiden University, the Netherlands.
Before establishing Sufianto & Partners, Danang advised and represented domestic and international clients in a broad range of contentious matters, including civil and commercial litigation, domestic and international arbitration, insolvency and restructuring proceedings, construction-related disputes, and complex contractual claims.
Danang's approach is shaped by a simple belief: legal issues are best understood by first understanding the mechanics behind them. He is known for communicating complex legal issues in clear, direct terms, allowing clients to make informed decisions with confidence.
- Advised businesses on contractual risk allocation, commercial structuring, dispute avoidance, and legal strategy
- Advised and assisted contractors in the preparation and negotiation of consortium agreements and the production of other related documents.
- Conducted court and litigation due diligence on several foundations in connection with a client's proposed partnership for a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project.
- Represented business and private clients in contractual and tort litigation.
- Represented employers through all stages of employment disputes
- Represented Indonesian, multinational, and foreign companies in domestic arbitration proceedings administered by BANI Arbitration Centre involving construction, project, and contractual disputes.
- Represented an Indonesian contractor in arbitration proceedings administered under the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) Rules, including the production of submissions related to jurisdictional, substantive, and costs-related matters.
- Represented businesses in multiple setting-aside proceedings in respect of arbitral awards.
- Advised financiers and creditors on the recovery of non-performing loans, including debt restructuring, settlement arrangements, and debtor asset investigations in collaboration with risk investigation consultants.
- Advised clients on dispute strategy, settlement negotiations, and enforcement considerations arising from complex commercial disputes.
- Advised creditors and stakeholders in PKPU proceedings involving real estate and development projects
- Represented and coordinated groups of creditors in restructuring proceedings, including matters relating to voting strategy, creditor rights, and proposed restructuring plans.
- Advised clients in evaluating recovery options through restructuring, litigation, enforcement, and negotiated settlements.
